The month of May is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. In 1992, George H. W. Bush first designated May as a month to commemorate Asian - American Heritage and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. This month has been celebrated with community festivals, Government sponsored activities and educational activities for students.

Meet Christina Lee (Georgia Division, Receptionist - left) along with her cousins PaKur Ly, Lyanne Ly, Chris Ly, and sister Michelle Lee celebrating the Hmong New Year in traditional Hmong customes. This photo represents one of the many traditions within the Asian culture known as Hmong. Each year, the Hmong New Year is celebrated during the month of November filled with activities including traditional Hmong dances, singers, and sports. Christina mentions that they only get to wear the outfits once a year. The costume adds an extra 10 pounds due to the heavy coins and necklace.
